Last night, the greatest closer in baseball history, stepped off the mound for the last time in Yankee Stadium to an ovation of cheers and tears. After nineteen years of dominating performance, Mariano Rivera will walk away from the game at the end of this season. Throughout this baseball season, we have seen Mr. Rivera honored in different stadiums across the country, receiving the love and respect of fellow players and fans. Mariano Rivera has earned this uncommon and universal respect not just from his physical play but by always conducting himself as a professional and by his constant pursuit of perfection as a player and a human being.
The great Vince Lombardi once famously said; “Gentlemen, we will chase perfection, and we will chase it relentlessly, knowing all the while we can never attain it. But along the way, we shall catch excellence.” Pursuing excellence in any field, day in and day out, is not easy and that is why when we see such individual dedication it is respected.
As patients, I think you all deserve to know that each day your health care professionals are trying to chase perfection, it may be an unattainable goal but it is a noble pursuit.
Thank you, Mariano Rivera, your inspiration will be missed.
This week, our own Dr. Dodd visited Mrs. DiLandro’s Kindergarten class at Lake Avenue elementary school in Saratoga Springs in honor of National Dental Health month. The students were perfect; enthusiastic and full of questions. Dr. Dodd made them all honorary dentists for the day and taught them what to expect during a visit to the dentist.
They reviewed the best ways to take care of their teeth as well as proper food choices to promote good oral health. In the end, each student left with their own spin brush and a dental goodie bag. Kelsey Dodd even volunteered to be the patient for a mock dental exam. It is important for a dentist to teach children good oral hygiene at an early age and show kids that there is nothing to fear about the dentist. Our offices always welcome the opportunity to give back to this great community. Hopefully the children had a lot of fun and learned plenty healthy habits.
Check out the video Dr. Dodd showed the class Dudley Visits the Dentist. This video shows the children what to expect at a dental appointment and introduces them to the dental team and the instruments.
We all live such busy lives. It’s very easy to forget that there are many people, both here and afar, that are in need of help. It takes special people to step away from their own busy schedules to give back to others.
Ana Gaylo, Registered Hygienist in our Clifton Park office, will be going to Africa May 16th, for 2 weeks to provide her services at the Canaan Children’s Home in Uganda. This is Ana’s 3rd trip to the orphanage where she provides preventative treatment and educates patients on practicing good oral hygiene. Our offices are proud to be donating the dental care supplies for her to give to the children in support of their dental hygiene needs.
We are truly proud of Ana’s efforts and wish her the very best on her trip. Her efforts make us all examine what we can be doing to help make this world a better place.
It is the biggest weekend of the year for the Adirondack Phantoms as they fight for a spot in the Calder Cup Playoffs! As always, Saratoga Springs Dentists will be encouraging and cheering on the Phantoms. We were able to personally wish one of the leading Phantoms players, Mike Testwuide, “good luck” when he stopped by the office this week.

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our founder, Dr. Miles A. Kletter. He was a skilled clinician, a willing mentor, a community leader, wonderful father and a beloved friend. His inspiration will be missed but never forgotten. Indeed, our office and this community has lost a valuable member.
